Why the Government Should Allow More Filipinos to Work Abroad

Each year, more and more Filipinos migrate to work abroad. It is an undeniable fact that most of the Filipinos chose to work abroad than to stay and work here in the Philippines. They are willing to sacrifice their time being away with their family just to earn more money and living there in other countries than in their own country. But why do Filipinos insist to work there than in their own country? Why doesn't the government make any action or solutions for the Filipinos to stop migrating to other countries? Such questions should be considered by the government to solve this issue.

The main reason why more Filipinos chose to work abroad  is that the Philippines has an unstable economic condition and high unemployment rate. They believed that there are lesser chances to be able to work here locally than in other countries. Also, they thought of earning high income and salary in abroad. If the government would not allow them to work abroad, their lives would be miserable here in their own country. Wonder why? It is because lesser jobs are available here in the Philippines which still bias the rich people. There is also a record of discrimination experienced when applying jobs locally. And even if they provide some source of livelihood or living here in the country , the salary will still be presumably lower than that of the salary that they will have in other countries. Besides, if the government would not allow them to work abroad, the rich people would only benefit because of the corruption they are doing. Instead of working in abroad, they will be here suffering in discrimination and corruption and experiencing hunger and starving.

Finally, the decision of the government to allow more Filipinos to work abroad would possibly very acceptable. It would be very beneficial not only to the OFW's themselves but also to their family. The continuation of the protection and program given by the government to them would be helpful to show our support to them. Maybe our government cannot help them by giving them stable jobs here in the country, but still, we can support them in this own little way which may seem a big thing to them.

Romeo and Juliet: As Time Repeats Constantly

If I would be given the chance to change the last part of the story Romeo and Juliet, the story would be like this:
After Romeo received the news that Juliet was dead , he immediately travelled back to Verona. While travelling, he met Friar John along the way. Romeo quickly asked Friar John if Juliet is really dead. And because of that, he gave Romeo the letter from Friar Laurence and let him read it. After reading the letter, Romeo became happy and excited to see and be with Juliet once again. He continued his travel and went straight to Juliet's tomb.
On the other hand, Paris is crying and mourning in Juliet's tomb. When he finally decided to leave the tomb, Juliet woke up. When he looked back for his final glance, he saw Juliet alive and moving. Because of that, he became overjoyed and hugged Juliet right away. Since Juliet is still weak because of the potion that she drank, she wasn't able to push Paris away from her. Instead, she just talked to Paris and told him everything about his love for Romeo. Realizing how happy Juliet is with Romeo based on her story, Paris decided to let go of Juliet and let her be with his love Romeo.
When Romeo arrived at Juliet's tomb, Paris immediately talked to Romeo. He apologized to Romeo and told him about the plan that he and Juliet made. Paris helped Romeo and Juliet from their escape to Verona and their feuding families. They went to Mantua and there, they lived happily together with their child Helena who is deeply in love with Paris' son, Demetrius.
After several years had passed, the Capulets and Montagues still fight and argue with one another despite what happened before. For the second time, their children named Hermia and Lysander fell in love with one another. And again, another story of star-crossed lovers, began.

A Tribute For The Hard Work of Our Teachers

" A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom in the pupils." --Ever Garrison

My beloved teachers,
I admire your hard work for teaching different students like us in everyday of your lives. I know that it's very hard to be with someone who you do not know. I know that everyday, your life with us is a sacrifice for you need to leave your family, children and husband or wife for a period of time. Instead of having a good and memorable day with them, you are with us having a headache for we are noisy and sometimes not obedient. And because of those reasons, I salute all of you.
Some may say that your lives as a teacher are just easy but for me, it's one of the hardest job one could ever handle. Aside from being away with your family, you also need to study the lessons that you will share with your students. You need to know every single detail related to the subject, and that is really hard.Teachers are not perfect and everyone knows that. I know that all of you, as a teacher, only gives the best for your students.
Again, I want to thank all of the teachers for all of their hard work. I'm hoping that all of you would continue on doing your job at your very best. Thank you and God Bless!

                                                                                                                         A student,

Talk with Nelson Mandela

(Note: This is just an imaginary interview with the said historical person. The author does not promise to give or show all real or true facts. Some of the facts stated might be just a conclusion. Thank you!)

If I would we given a chance to meet and talk to a historical person, I would choose Mr. Nelson Mandela. It is because I want to know why he pursued his advocacy even if he was not still a president and how he overcome and surpassed all the challenges that he had met while pursuing his advocacy about social justice and democracy.

(Interview/Conversational Script)
Me: Good Afternoon everyone! Today we would have an interview with Mr. Nelson Mandela. He was the President of South Africa from 1994-1999. He is an advocate against racism, poverty and inequality. He is also an advocate of social justice and democracy. He built a foundation named Nelson Mandela Foundation which seeks help for those people who have problems which involves racism, inequality and other problems involving social justice. And now let's give up for Mr. Nelson Mandela!

Mr. Nelson Mandela: Thank you everyone! Thank you Ms. Magsombol! I am very glad that I'm here today with you guys.

Me: Thank you Mr. Mandela for granting our request to have an interview with you. And now let's start. Sir, what is your advocacy all about?

Mr. Nelson Mandela: So, my advocacy is about racism, poverty, inequality, social justice and democracy. Most of the topics that I chose for my advocacy are those that I commonly observe and see in our country and also in other different parts of the world. So, as we all know, discrimination is very common among us blacks. And because of this, I came up with this advocacy and foundation that I know will benefit us.

Me: So you think that if you will build this foundation, then you and your community will gain equal rights and social justice?

Mr. Nelson Mandela: Yes. Actually, it was very hard for me to build this Nelson Mandela foundation at first because you now that we were being discriminated. But because of the determination that we had, we were able to build and encourage other people to join us in our advocacy.

Me: Do you think that this advocacy that you had made the people decide to vote you as their president?

Mr. Nelson Mandela: Uhmm. Maybe yes because somehow they thought of having me as an instrument which will lead our country to have democracy and social justice. And so, when I won the elections, I continued my advocacy and successfully built this foundation which we have now. So in our foundation we encourage everyone to share their problems and then in exchange we will listen to them and give some suggestions and solutions for us to help solve their problem.

Me: Thank you Mr. Nelson Mandela for sharing all those information to us!

Mr. Nelson Mandela: Your welcome! Thank you everyone and goodbye!

Me: And now that we heard all those experiences of Mr. Mandela let's end our show with a happy afternoon! Thank you everyone for watching and see you tomorrow! Bye!

A Book Review: "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare

Summary:
The story of "Romeo and Juliet" was about their unrequited and pure love to one another. Their love story started when Romeo went to the Capulet's traditional feast and saw Juliet. When he immediately saw her, he fell in love with her. Also, Juliet fell in love with Romeo. Because of that, they talked to each other often and send each other letters and messages too. They secretly communicated to one another through Juliet's Nurse. When they finally told each other about their feelings, they decided to get married. Romeo soon arranged their secret marriage together with Friar Lawrence. Their secret marriage became successful. After they got married, Romeo was banished from Verona because he killed Tybalt from an incident that afternoon also. Romeo went to Mantua and bid his farewell to Juliet. Juliet on the other hand was arranged to marry Paris on the next Thursday. Of course, Juliet didn't want to marry Paris so she made a plan with Friar Lawrence. And because Friar Lawrence knew that Juliet was already married to Romeo, he decided to help Juliet with her plan. She gave Juliet a potion that will make her look dead for forty-eight hours. On the night before her wedding, she drank the potion and fell asleep. Soon, their plan became effective for other people really did think that Juliet was already dead. On the other hand, Romeo being concerned to Juliet sends one of his servants, Balthasar to search for Juliet in Verona. Before that, Friar Lawrence sends Romeo a letter containing their plan about Juliet's fake death. But apparently, Romeo wasn't able to receive it. Balthasar saw the funeral of Juliet and soon he reported it to Romeo. Romeo after being informed quickly decided to go back to Verona. But before that, he went to the apothecary to buy a drug that would instantly kill him. When he had it already, he went directly to Juliet's tomb. There he saw Paris and killed him. After that he went where Juliet was lying. He drank the drug and soon he died. Juliet woke up and seeing Romeo dead beside her, she decided to kill herself for her to be able to be with Romeo. After those tragic experiences, the Capulet and the Montague ended their war between them.

Plot:
In the city of Verona there were fighting Capulets and Montagues which was stopped by Prince Escalus who told them that there will be a death punishment once they fought and disturb the city again. On the other hand, Capulet planned to have their traditional feast. Romeo went to the party together with Benvolio and Mercutio. At the party, Romeo saw Juliet and immediately fell in love with her. Unluckily, while they were talking, Tybalt heard the voice of Romeo so he ordered them to leave to avoid any arguments. As Romeo left the party and as the Nurse got hold of Juliet, they discovered each other’s identity. But because of their so called “love” for one another, they still met and send letters. One day, they decided to get married. Romeo quickly went to Friar Lawrence to seek some help while Juliet asked for her Nurse’s help for her preparation for her wedding. Luckily, their wedding became successful. Apparently, on that day also, Tybalt fought with Mercutio and his friends. Mercutio was killed as Romeo tried to stop their fight. Romeo became angry so he lost his control. He killed Tybalt in anger and because of that he was banished from Verona. Juliet was worried for what Romeo did. She sent her Nurse to Friar Lawrence and found out that Romeo was there. On that night, Romeo went to Juliet and bid his farewell before he went to Mantua. Despite of all those things, Juliet was arranged to marry Paris on the next Thursday. But because Juliet doesn’t want to marry him, he asked the help of Friar Lawrence for her to be able to escape the wedding. Friar Lawrence helped Juliet and gave her a potion that would make her look like dead. They planned to send to Romeo a letter about this plan. But unfortunately, Romeo wasn’t able to receive the letter. Instead what Romeo received from Balthasar was that Juliet was already dead. He decided to go back to Verona that day but before that he went to the apothecary and bought a drug that would kill him instantly. After that he returned to Verona and went to Juliet’s tomb. There he saw Paris and fought with him. He killed Paris. Then Romeo went beside Juliet and drank the drug which made him die. Juliet woke up and saw what happened to Romeo. She decided to kill herself with a knife. Because of the deaths of Juliet and Romeo, their families decided to end the war between them and build a monument for their honor.

He is also a warfreak.) and Prince Escalus (He is the one responsible for keeping the peace in Verona at all times.)

Settings:
Generally, the story of “Romeo and Juliet" took place in the beautiful city of Verona and Mantua in Italy in the Renaissance Period around the 14th and 15th century.

Exposition:
In the city of Verona, Italy there were two powerful families that were rivals for an unknown reason. Their family members were always fighting in the streets of Verona causing many destruction and disturbances around the city. Because of that, Prince Escalus decided to make a punishment for those who will fight again in the city which is death. On the other hand, Romeo and Benvolio met and they talked about Romeo's unrequited love for Rosaline. Benvolio tried to convince Romeo to stop thinking about Rosaline. Soon, they met a servant of the Capulet asking for some help to find the guests on the invitation for the Capulet's traditional feast and of course Romeo helped him. When Romeo saw the name of Rosaline, he decided to attend the party together with Benvolio and Mercutio.

Rising Action:
On the Capulet's party, soon, Romeo saw Juliet and immediately fell in love with her. They talked to each other and Juliet on the other hand, fell in love with him as well. But when Tybalt heard Romeo's voice, he immediately reacted and wanted Romeo to get out of the party. To avoid any arguments, Romeo just left and went out of the party. He was informed that Juliet was a Capulet and on the other hand, Juliet was also informed that Romeo was a Montague. Despite of knowing each other's identities, they still loved and longed for each other. Soon, they told each other about their feelings. After that, they usually meet and send love letters to one another. Because of all those things that they've gone through together, they decided to be married as soon as possible. Romeo asked the help of Friar Lawrence about their secret marriage and luckily, he agreed while Juliet asked for the help and support of her Nurse for their escape at their house. Their marriage was successfully done and celebrated. On that day, Romeo met with Benvolio and Mercutio. But when he arrived, he saw Mercutio and Benvolio fighting with Tybalt together with the other Capulets. At first, he tried to stop them. But when Tybalt killed Mercutio, he fought with them. And because of too much anger, he killed Tybalt. He was shocked and frightened at first so he decided to hide in Friar Lawrence's place. There Friar Lawrence cured his wounds and told her about his banishment in Verona.

Climax:
The banishment of Romeo in the city of Verona became finally official. When he knew about it, he was so depressed and he doesn't want to live anymore. Also, when Juliet was informed about Romeo's banishment she was panicking and sad. She immediately sends her Nurse to Friar Lawrence to ask if Romeo was there. When the Nurse got there, she saw Romeo and became sad also. She told him that Juliet will wait for him that night. Soon, the Nurse left. Romeo went to Juliet's place as agreed. They talked sincerely again and bid their farewells.

Falling Action:
Juliet was arranged to marry Paris on the next Thursday. First, Juliet protested to her parents but none of them listened to her. On their meeting with Friar Lawrence, she acted like she's already fine with it. But when Paris left, he asked for Friar Lawrence's help. She asked for something that will help her in escaping with their marriage. Friar Lawrence gave her a potion that will make her body like dead. After so many preparations, at the end of the day, Juliet asked her Nurse and mother to leave her alone for her to have some rest. When they left, Juliet drank the potion and it immediately became effective. Juliet appeared to be dead in front of many people. Soon, the wedding became a funeral. On the other hand, Romeo sent Balthasar to look for Juliet in Verona. Unluckily, there was a message from Friar Lawrence about the plan that he and Juliet made that was not sent to Romeo. So what Balthasar saw which was the funeral of Juliet was the one reported to Romeo. When Romeo received the information from Balthasar, he decided to go back to Verona to visit her beloved lady. But before he went to Verona with Balthasar, he decided to visit the apothecary in Mantua. There he bought a drug that could kill him instantly. When they arrived in Verona, they went to Juliet's tomb directly. Romeo ordered Balthasar to deliver his letter to his father the next morning and stay away already. Balthasar fakely agreed to Romeo and just hid under a yew-tree instead. Romeo started to open Juliet's tomb not knowing that Paris was there also. When they saw each other, they fought. Romeo killed Paris. Soon, Romeo went beside Juliet and started to drink the drug that he bought from the apothecary. The drug fastly became effective and soon, he died. Juliet woke up and saw her beloved Romeo lying dead beside her. She cried and cursed. Because of her true and pure love for him, she decided to be with him so she killed herself using a knife.

Denouement:
Because of the death of both Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets and the Montagues decided to end the war between them. They agreed about their children's love and decided to support one another. They also decided to build a statue of Romeo and Juliet to honor them for their incomparable love story.

Choice for Free!

"If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it. The more things you do, the more you can do."   -- Lucille Ball

Ready to give up on time management? Well, don't give up on it first for there are still many ways in solving your problem! Here are some ways for you to be able to cope up with the challenge of time management: first, try to motivate yourself to work faster for you to be able to do more things or for you to sleep early: people especially students and workers need a lot of sleep for them to be able to work efficiently. Second, try do multi-tasking. Multi-tasking is working on one thing while doing another. This may seem hard at first but when you are already familiar with it, this will be a very effective thing to do. Lastly, do things that you can do now. Meaning, if you're doing nothing now, try to at least start doing one of your tasks and stop postponing it and saying, "I'll do it later or tomorrow." In short, stop the MaƱana habit. For other tips about time management, watch the video below. Always remember that we always have a choice. And that choice is the solution for us to be able to cope with our challenges in life. Enjoy!

Don’t ever give up on a certain thing instead; let it give up on you!

The Good Shadow

Some people may remember me as a happy-go-lucky person, responsible student or a loving and obedient daughter. I knew it's good to be remembered in that way. But for me, it's different. Of course, I'd like to be remembered in those ways also, but you know, there's something inside me that urges myself to show the other side of me that can be remembered by other people in a different way.

According to a quote given by Aaliyah "It's hard to say what I want my legacy to be when I'm long gone." We can't tell people what to think or feel about us. We can't just say that our legacy will be this or that thing because other people have different perceptions about us. But despite all these, we can still make a way to show what kind of legacy we want them to remember us. Just like Patrick Swayze's quote, "My work... is my Legacy." Even if we don't tell them what we want our legacy to be, if we just work on it properly, we will be remembered of the things that we had done. If we do good things, we will be remembered as a good person.  But of course, if we do bad things, then we will be remembered as a bad person.

A helping hand- someone who do good things for other's own sake, one who always stay by their side, one who is ready to come along and turn their life again when their down and the one who can inspire them to be a helping hand to other people too; that's how I want other people to remember me. I want them to think of me as their own shadows in life. I want them to think that I will always be right by their side even if they don't need me. And that I will always try to be with them even in times of darkness. Even if they don't see me when they turn around , I will always be right there together with them fighting all the problems that they're facing. Just like a real shadow, even though we can't see them clearly especially when it's dark, they will surely follow us even if we walk away and turn our back against them. I knew that this will be my greatest legacy in life if ever that I will be successful in making them see and realize that this is really the kind of person I am. I want them to feel free in approaching me every time they need a friend. I want them to see that I am willing to do everything for them as long as I can possibly do it. And most of all, I want them to see how lucky am I to be given the chance to be part of their lives if ever that they will allow me to be their own shadows so that they will also be encouraged to be other's shadows as well. But I knew, at this point, I'm still on the process of convincing other people to see me in this way. And I hope that before my flame-farewelled time arrive, I'll have the slots of their shadows so that when I'm finally dead, I can still have my path in life: to be their real shadows.
"I just want to complete my legacy." -- Lennox Lewis

My SUPER HEROES !

For you, who do you consider as your hero? Is he the one who has superpowers and extraordinary strength? The one who is immortal? The one who always use powers to defeat his enemies? Well, not all heroes are like them. A simple person like us can also be a hero: a hero of our own life or a hero of other's life. For me a hero is someone who always stay by your side, guide and support you, inspires you and most of all, strengthens you.
For me, my heroes are my parents. They are very supportive and loving person. They are always ready to be here right by my side. They always give advice to me every time I consult them with my problem. They always guide me to the right place. Never did they left me nor rejected me. They always help me in every decision that I'm going to make. Even if sometimes they're busy , still they always find quality time just to be with us. In addition, they are also a stout-hearted person. They are ready to fight especially if they know that they are right. They are willing to do everything just for our sake. Moreover, they are also hardworking, patient, and industrious in they're work. And because of all those things, they inspired me to be like them. Just like helmet bearers in different storm of swords in our life. Lastly, I admire them for giving me strength to face all my problems and fears in my life. I hope that they will never get tired of doing such a thing for me instead, they will continue supporting and going with me to my journey until I reach my success.
You both, my parents, will always be my heroes in my eyes. Cause I found the characteristics of a hero within the both of you. Thank you for being my heroes!

With a Smile

New teachers, new classmates, new service mates and new surroundings, that were the things that I thought of in this junior life. As I woke up last June 02, 2014, all I can feel was the pressure surrounding me. Seeing many different people as I entered the service and meeting them made me more pressured. As we go on to our destination, all I can perceived was full of anxiety. I was thinking of problems, bullying and many more negative things that might happen in my first day as a junior student. And because of that, all I did was to pray and hope that this day will be a smooth, good and memorable one for me.

As I entered our campus, I felt mixed emotions. I was excited yet I feel nervous. This is reality and that I can't get over it. "Hooh!" That was the only word that slipped from my mouth as I went down our service. "Labdab. Labdab." I can hear my heart beating fastly as I walked towards our classroom. And, finally! My first step in our classroom was fine. I immediately placed my bag on my designated chair and started to interact and socialize with my classmates. When it was already 7:00 am, we sat down and waited for our first class.

Our first class was Science. The class started with Ma'am Jenny Ann P. Soriano introducing herself in front. Since she was familiar with me because she was our teacher when I was in grade 7, I easily coped up with her subject. She was a silent type but a jolly and very talented one. Mathematics was our second class.I could say that this subject made my day quite exciting because of the naming activity that we had done with Ma'am Arceo. In this activity, you only need to choose one adjective that should start with the first letter of  your name that will also describe what type of a person you are. As the activity goes on, I'm getting more nervous because I can't think of an adjective that starts with letter "R" that will perfectly describe me. When Diana Rose pointed me, oh no! It's my turn! I immediately thought of some basic adjective words that starts with letter "R" and I had chosen the word "Responsible" to describe me. I knew that it was embarrassing but I did it! I was able to describe myself in front of them and I could say that some of them really agreed to me. We had a short break after that. We ate biscuits and talked to each other. We had our Research class with Ma'am Ruby H. Bautista at 9:45 am. We had our first class right away and discussed some basic things about research. We also had our first assignment in this subject and that was to search for the accurate definitions of the given terms. This subject was followed by the Analytic Geometry. I this subject, we first had a brief introduction of one another with Ma'am Lucky. Aside from that we also defined what Analytic Geometry is. We had our bountiful lunch after the class. After 45 minutes, we had our class in Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao with Ma'am Nazareno. We only recalled our previous topics in ESP in the whole period. The next class was Music. In this class, we were asked by Ma'am Malou to draw what we learned in MAPEH 8 and what we expect to learn in this MAPEH 9. After those two classes, we had our 30-minute recess. Classes resumed at 3:00 pm. We had our English class with Ma'am Maye right after the recess. In this class, we were asked to introduce ourselves one by one. And also, the list of the needed requirements were given to us for us to complete and submit it on the due date given. Our last class was Filipino. Like the other subjects, we introduced ourselves to Ma'am Tolentino and proceeded with the reading test. As the day ended, I can say that my first day as a junior high student was fine.

The next two days were manageable. We just took our Diagnostic Tests and attended our club meetings. I was able to be the Vice President of the Junior Health Guardian Club and also a minor member of YES-O and ICT Club. And because of these things, I can say that I'm already starting to be active for this school year 2014- 2015. The next days were regular classes already. We had assignments, activities, presentations and experiments.

To be honest, I really did enjoy my first week here in Science being a junior high student. Despite of all the pressures that I need to face everyday, with the support of my parents, the jokes of my classmates, with the presence of God and especially with laughter, everything will be smooth and fine for me. My negative perceptions were changed into a positive one. Now I see my junior life as a challenging one. It will be a lot of fun and hoping to overcome all of my anxiety with a big smile.

"Smile, for everyone lacks self-confidence and more than any other one thing, a smile reassures them."
                   - Andre Maurois
